This microphone is inspired by and styled after the legendary "Neumann U-47", utilizing an American version of the German EF14 steel tube (the American tube sounds the same as the German one but is more readily available & less costly). It has the additional feature of 9 polar patterns, controlled from the power supply. It captures the low frequency nuances of the original "47" with smooth mids and balanced highs.
Peluso microphones use their own specially-made capsules, the elements that capture the sound & are thus the single most important component in determining a microphone's sound. Peluso buys the metal work from China and then the sputtering and diaphragm work is done at their lab in the U.S. These are very nice capsules, with great frequency and transient response. These are of the finest quality, and with the costly machine shop work done in China, can be sold at a fraction of the cost of a comparable German capsule.
The microphone comes as a complete system, with Microphone In Wood Box, Power Supply, 7 Conductor Cable, and Shock Mount in Flight Case. Hand made in the USA.
