X904 is a gate and expander plugin inspired by a classic dynamics module from the 1980s, designed for precise envelope control and creative rhythmic shaping.

Description

The X904 delivers fast and transparent gating to clean up drum recordings, remove noise, or add rhythmic precision to performances. Its VCA-based design ensures lightning-fast response and smooth transition between open and closed states, maintaining the natural transients of the original sound.

With switchable sidechain filtering and an adaptive release mode, X904 goes beyond traditional gating—making it a creative sound-shaping tool as well as a surgical noise suppressor.

History

Based on the hardware module that complemented the 902 and 903 units, the original gate/expander from the 1980s became essential in drum mixing and live sound engineering. We carefully measured a preserved unit to bring its iconic snappiness and musical envelope control into the Synergy Core Native world.
